After a recreational baseball game, Austen and his friends got Kona Ice.

Austen Townsend was born on September 12, 2006, in Knoxville Maryland. Austen grew up in a family of 4. At a very young age, he started playing baseball. He grew up playing and watching baseball, it was a lifestyle from a very young age. He would often spend his weekends playing baseball and his schedule was always filled. Austen developed his game by watching his favorite MLB players and watching his favorite team the Washington Nationals.

Growing up, Austen had always had his hands on a baseball, glove, or bat.  Having an older brother who played baseball, Austen wanted to follow in his big brother’s footsteps. As Austen got older, he started to take baseball more seriously, that’s when his weekends turned from relaxed days to days on the baseball field playing the sport he loved most. Meanwhile, Austen’s parents had to make a sacrifice and knew that with two sons who played baseball, they had to show support and come to their games. From a young age, Austen was motivated to get better at the sport that he loved, his dream being to play in the MLB he knew that he had to be the hardest worker.

Austen knew that he was going to have to do a lot more to achieve his goal of reaching the MLB one day. Austen had to sacrifice many hours each day to get closer and closer to the goal that he had always wanted to reach. With his older brother who also played baseball, Austen and Blake would hit together, field ground balls together, and throw together. Many kids his age didn’t have the dedication that Austen did, he wanted to reach his goal even if it was going to take many sacrifices.

When Austen reached high school, he was excited to try out for the Lafayette baseball team, which had many talents like junior, University of Virginia baseball commit, Luke Hanson, he had to work as hard as he could leading up to the tryouts in February. As a freshman Austen made varsity and had an amazing year to start off his high school career. Following his breakout freshman year, he worked hard over the summer and had an amazing season during the summer as well. After the summer season, the school had just started to come around.

By the time Austen reached his sophomore year, he had made a name for himself in and out of school. He had always been known for his goofy and funny personality, but now people know him as a kid who can play baseball. During the offseason, he had worked harder than his previous years, and with the season rolling around, he expected another year if not better than his freshman year, and he did just that. He finished the season better than his freshman year and came out with an All-Region Team.

During his junior season, he had an even better year. He ended the season with the second-highest Ram batting average and received a nod to the All-Region Team. While his junior season fell short, he is looking forward to a better result for his upcoming Senior season . With many eyes on Austen, he will be announcing his official commitment soon, and with the commitment he will ease all the tension with college and be solely focused on baseball.
