Uplifting, community building and joy bringing, this is what Young Life is all about.  Young Life is a group of caring adults and college students who go where kids are, try to earn the right to be heard and share the Bible of Jesus with them. Young life Club involves singing, great positive energy, a skit, and a short talk about Jesus and His impact on your life.  This summer I got to experience the joys of a Young life summer camp first hand at a place called Rockbridge in Virginia.

When it comes to Young Life camp, you truly have no idea what will come next. Whether it’s a giant whirlpool, two men fighting in Sumo suits, or sliding down a giant mud obstacle course in the middle of the night, young Life camp is full of fun surprises. It isn’t just the typical summer camp where attendees go to have fun, do activities and have campfires. Young Life camp is a time to find yourself, and find friends who truly go the extra mile for you. It’s a time for real conversations, and an environment for real friendships to formed.

When Senior Jamie Kendall was asked why she goes to Young life she replied, “I go to Young life to be in an environment with positive people who want to learn about the Lord. It’s always the highlight of my week.  If I’m in a bad mood it always cheers me up. At camp it’s so amazing to see people learn about God for the first time and to see some accept Jesus into their lives.” When Senior Alejandro Gonzalez was asked the same question he responded, “Young life is like an all you can eat buffet. You get everything you want and more.” These two were more than willing to share the love they have for this organization and bring others along with them.

The reason why Young Life works so hard to make their summer camp the best 7 days of your life is because they genuinely believe you’re important.  At Young Life camp, you will see exactly how you are supposed to live: a life of joy, a life of celebration, and a life of adventure. The Young life saying is “you were made for this” and believe me you are.
