The Lafayette rams have just started their tennis season journey. Interest meeting was originally scheduled for Monday, February 23rd, however the Rams and nearby WJCC schools were unable to hold school, so the meeting got pushed to the 24th. However, tryouts have not been held yet, because the temperatures have been too cold for any activities. That being said, the rams are looking forward to this year. There are many repeating members including, Zachary Wright, Jack (John) Stratton, Rishi Vora, Brody Rubin, Aubin Ayers and other players who play for the JV side of the team.

However, the team is looking forward to having freshman super star, William Zheng. William has been playing tennis many years, and is excited to join the team, he competes in local tournaments and has a UTR (universal tennis rating) of a 4.4. Going off of UTR alone that leaves him with the second highest UTR. Only behind Zachary Wright with a UTR of 7.4.
This all being said, the rams officially have their schedule locked in. They currently have fifteen matches to look forward to. They play their biggest rival, Jamestown, twice in the normal season and Lafayette having moved up to 4A will be in the same class as them now. This class change is big news for Lafayette and hopefully will bring good results to the team’s future record.

One thing the team is sad about is their loss of Xavier Jones, a 3-year ram and ex-captain of the tennis team. He contributed a lot to the team and as Aubie Ayers said “were gonna miss that guy, big role but I think Zach can step in at the one spot and lead just as well”. All in all, this year should yield good results for the team and for many years to come.
