Lafayette boys soccer had a rough loss against York a game that they should have won. The rams have been in a late season crisis recently and having a lot of injuries to the starting lineup. Coach Bobby Obrian decided to have a team meeting as morale is low and everyone needs to get on the same page. Bobby Obrian had a motivational speech and you could tell that all the players were affected, he had the players come to the front of the room and say what’s on their mind, both young and older players talked, and it was a powerful moment for the team.
The rams have 3 games left in the season and are standing at 10-4 looking to win at least 2 out of 3 games to go 12-5. They play Kellam, Warhill, and Tabb to finish off the season, 3 very good teams and the rams are going to need to play their best to get results in them. The rams have high hopes for this season, feeling like they have the potential to win a state championship, they have the talent and the players, they just need that mindset, that winner’s mentality.

And in the game vs York it really showed that mindset is what is the missing peace, throughout the whole game York kept winning every 50/50 ball, every tackle, out muscled them of the ball, and played with some heart, the rams looked defeated the whole game and ultimately that was the reason they lost, not because York is better but because they had some heart. And that’s not something you can teach says coach bobby Obrien, but it is something you can practice over and over again, so coach Bobby Obrien took it upon himself to put the team through conditioning, a whole practice of conditioning, and he wanted to see worked the hardest and who was too weak to continue.
The Lafayette Rams suffered tough 5-0 loss at the hands of Kellam, a scoreline that doesn’t tell the full story of a team that competed with heart, grit, and a level of quality that set them apart from everyone else in the state this season.
Yes, the results hurts. Losing by five goals is never easy to take, and the Rams will be the first to admit that. But take a step back and look at the bigger picture, this is a Lafayette team that has a lot of potential and has competed with the best teams in the state, they are in a new frame of mind and are ready to compete for a state title.

The younger players stepped up in a big way vs Kellam, showing that they can compete and that the future for the team is bright. Showing coach Bobby Obrian that he can trust them without him having to think about it.
