UFC Fight Night: Hernandez vs. Strickland just happened on 21st and the main card was crazy. and the two have been sharing lots of words with each other. Before the Hernandez said things like “I’m gonna torture him”. Anthony Hernandez was at a 3 to 1 favorite. Sean Strickland had a 30% chance to win. Many MMA outlets were predicting Hernandez to win.
The main card started with an insane finish at 170 with Jacobe Smith TKO’ing Josiah Harrell. Jacobe Smith dominated Josiah Harrell with his wrestling then delivered brutal ground and pound. Many fans think this fight wasn’t stopped early enough. Jacobe Smith was the underdog for this fight. Smith credits his collegiate wrestling for his win over Harrell. Afterwards Serghei Spivac fought Ante Delija at heavyweight and this fight went to a unanimous decision with Serghei getting the judge’s favor. Heavyweight champ and friend of Ante Delija thinks that the decision should’ve went to Delija. Featherweight prospect Melquizael Costa finished Dan Ige for the first time with a spinning wheel kick. This was Dan Ige’s first time being finished in the UFC. Costa is now getting into the top 15 in the world from this finish. Uros “The Doctor” Medic knocked out Geoff Neal cold with a left hook straight to Neal’s temple. Medic will now likely fight former champion Leon Edwards at UFC: Serbia. The final fight on this card was Anthony Hernandez vs. Sean Strickland. Sean Strickland out landed Hernandez in every round. Strickland landed a powerful right up the middle into Hernandez’s solar plexus and Hernandez instantly was hurt. Strickland then went for the finish and got the TKO win over Hernandez.
