In the beginning of the season the Lafayette Rams were only ranked 2nd in the bay rivers district which they took offense to because they knew they were better than every team in t
he district. They didn’t go on social media and run their mouths they put their heads down and worked day in and day out. Being led by a senior heavy group they continued to work hard. They fought adversity during the start of the season with one of their star players being out with a high ankle sprain and them dropping a game to Warhill which woke the Rams up early and from that moment on they never lost an in-district game again, going undefeated going 10-0 at home and 9-1 on the road. Despite them going 0-3 in their out of district games they are a completely different team from the first half of the season. Watching the rams its like they play with a chip on their shoulder when they were projected to finish 2nd.

I talked to senior Kordell London here is what he had to say ” It’s like a fever dream you know I remember being a sophomore on varsity getting carried to winning districts to leading my squad to districts life comes at you fast, winning districts is cool but that wasn’t our main goal. We want to imbed our self in school history we want the state title.” I also talked to the rest of the 5 seniors collectively and what I got from our interview is that they are happy of winning the district but their focus shifted to making a deep run in the playoffs. The Lafayette Men’s team, beat the Phoebus Phantoms in an intense first rounder playoff game. Kordell London led the way with 25 points and 9 assist with help from his senior’s Shamar Welsh to tallied 15 points and Theo commradi with 16 points. The basketball team takes on the Denbigh patriots in the second round of the playoffs both teams are looking to birth a state tournament visit
