The two superstars retired on the same night of April 10^th this year ending an era in NBA history. The three time NBA champion and 2010 Most Valuable Player Dwyane Wade. Going around on his farewell tour giving his jersey to prominent players on the teams he played. Giving jerseys to players including Chris Paul, LeBron James, Bradley Beal, Steph Curry, and Kyle Lowry. He also got a standing ovation when he stepped on the court against the Brooklyn Nets and faced off against D’Angelo Russell and the Nets. He went on to lose the game 94-113 scoring 25 points with a field goal percentage of 35.7%. Many professional basketball players attended his last game including Chris Paul of the Houston Rockets, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, and Carmelo Anthony a former player for the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets.

            Dirk Nowitzki also had his last game against the San Antonio Spurs and also got a standing ovation when he took the court in San Antonio, TX facing off against Demar DeRozan. The Maverick’s forward Dirk retired after his 21^st season in the NBA. He was a one time NBA Champion, one time finals MVP, fourteen time All-star and 2007 MVP. He ended up scoring 20 points while shooting 38.1% from the field and lost to the Spurs 94-105. In the 2018-2019 season he averaged 7.1 points per game, 3 rebounds per game, 0.7 assist per game, shooting 35.8% from the field, and 31.2% from three. Jarel the Lafayette high school senior said,” Nowitzki changed the landscape of modern basketball, and changed the rolls of big men in the NBA in the modern era.”

Many people know Dwyane Wade for his time he spent in Miami with LeBron and Chris Bosh which formed the first super team of the modern era which is often compared to the Golden State Warriors who have won five NBA championships having three in the five years.  Wade participating in all three championship titles that the Heat hold. He won the NBA championship in 2006, 2012, and 2013. In 2019-2018 season he averaged 14.9 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, 4.1 assist per game, 43.6% from the floor, and 33.5% from 3 three. David the Lafayette senior, and avid basketball viewer said,” Wayde made the Miami Heat and was the most influential player of the Heat giving them all of their championship victories.” He also went on his farewell tour paying homage to prevalent players on the teams he faces. He has swapped jersey’s with players like Chris Paul, Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James, Steph Curry, Paul George, Damian Lillard, and Isaiah Thomas. 

Many people also Know Dirk for his time his spent in Dallas. Dirk almost single handedly giving them their first and only championship in 2011 against the super team of Wade, Bosh, and James. He has also had one of the longest careers in the NBA. Many were surprised when the Dallas team was able to defeat the best team in the NBA of that time. He is also well known for being one of the first forwards known for shooting threes at a high percentage paving ways for players like Lebron James, Kevin Durant, and Kristaps Porzingis.
