The Dallas Mavericks are now statistically the worst NBA team in the state of Texas.

The two superstars retired on the same night of April 10th this year ending an era in NBA history. The three time NBA champion and 2010 Most Valuable Player Dwyane Wade. Going around on his farewell tour giving his jersey to prominent players on the teams he played. Many professional basketball players attended his last game including Chris Paul of the Houston Rockets, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, and Carmelo Anthony a former player for the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets.

            Dirk Nowitzki also had his last game against the San Antonio Spurs and also got a standing ovation when he took the court in San Antonio, TX facing off against Demar DeRozan. The Maverick’s forward Dirk retired after his 21st season in the NBA. He was a one time NBA Champion, one time finals MVP, fourteen time All-star and 2007 MVP. He ended up scoring 20 points while shooting 38.1% from the field and lost to the Spurs 94-105. In the 2018-2019 season he averaged 7.1 points per game, 3 rebounds per game, 0.7 assist per game, shooting 35.8% from the field, and 31.2% from three. Jarel the Lafayette high school senior said,” Nowitzki changed the landscape of modern basketball, and changed the rolls of big men in the NBA in the modern era.”

He won the NBA championship in 2006, 2012, and 2013. In 2019-2018 season he averaged 14.9 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, 4.1 assist per game, 43.6% from the floor, and 33.5% from 3 three. Many people also Know Dirk for his time his spent in Dallas. Dirk almost single handedly giving them their first and only championship in 2011 against the super team of Wade, Bosh, and James. He has also had one of the longest careers in the NBA. Many were surprised when the Dallas team was able to defeat the best team in the NBA of that time. He is also well known for being one of the first forwards known for shooting threes at a high percentage paving ways for players like Lebron James, Kevin Durant, and Kristaps Porzingis.
