Euphoria is defined as a feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness. But the HBO Max tv series, Euphoria, is quite different. The first episode aired June 16, 2019. Everyone fell in love with all the characters, the makeup, outfits, and the storylines.  

Let us dive into the characters. There is the anxious and depressed Rue, played by Zendaya, who is addicted to drugs. Jules is a transgender woman dealing with her body and love, she is played by Hunter Schafer. Cassie is a sweet and kind girl who has family issues. Although she is sweet, she is unbelievably insecure and projects that through her actions. This is shown religiously throughout the show. Cassie is played by Sydney Sweeney. Maddy is a fierce, fiery, female that exudes confidence. Maddy is played by Alexa Demie. Nate Jacobs is a hot headed and aggressive man that has issues with his sexuality and his identity. Nate is played by Jacob Elordi. Fez is the last main character. Fez has a huge heart and has a complicated job. 

The story continued, and season 2 aired January 9, 2022. The paper states that season 2 episode 1 “had 2.4 million total viewers. That’s the highest total viewership for a digital premiere since the launch of HBO Max back in 2020. I guess, then, it makes sense the platform crashed at 9 PM when the show was set to air.” Season 2 episodes will come out every Sunday. The episode begins panning to Fezco’s grandma. Fezco’s grandmother was his caregiver and taught Fez everything he knew. She taught Fezco things most 10 years old’s should not be taught, but Fez did not mind, and used his new knowledge to his advantage. One day he came home from school, which he did well in, and saw a baby on the floor. The baby was used as collateral. The mom never came back to pick him up. The baby was now apart of the family.

After the baby came, a few years went by and Fez’s grandma accidentally hit him with a medal bar while she was in a fight. He could not remember much about the next few months, but he remembered the day she got sick. She was on the floor in the bathroom, when he found her. He drove her car to the hospital. She was ill and now the business was him and Ashtrays (the collateral kid).

Now to present day, Fez has been dealing with some sketchy people. Ashtray would go to war for Fez. Ashtray notices Fez was not safe so he killed one of the guys and broke the others nose with a hammer. After Ashtray killed one of Fez’s colleagues, mouse, Fez, Ashtray, and Rue met new collogues. Rue and Fez fight and love like they are family.

After the business transaction, they go to a new year’s party. Jules, Cassie, Lexi, Nate, Maddy, and Kat went to the party as well. Rue sees Jules for the first time since Rue left her at the train station, she hides and tries to avoid Jules. Maddie runs to the bathroom to pee and runs into Lexi, Cassie’s sister. Lexi is looking for Cassie, her sister, they got into a fight and Cassie got out in the middle of the road. Cassie walks to a gas station and runs into Nate and takes her to the party. Cassie puts her head out the window and then the scene cuts to Maddy banging on the bathroom door to go pee. What is behind the door would terrify Maddy. Maddy’s, best friend Cassie is kissing her ex  boyfriend Nate in the bathroom. They realize Maddy is outside the door, so they come up with the idea for Cassie to hide in the bathtub and for Nate to leave the bathroom. Maddy goes the the bathroom as Cassie is still hiding in the bathtub. Maddy keeps on talking to a guy in the bathroom and then they eventually leave, and now Cassie can finally get out.

As soon as Cassie gets out of the bathroom, she gets pulled away with McKay, her ex boyfriend, and subtly tells him that she cheated on him. As Cassie is crying Jules and Rue have their first interaction in months. When the clock hits midnight they kiss and everything seems to go back to normal. After they kiss Fez and Lexi share cute interaction on the couch, talking about anything and everything. This interaction is quite odd since Fez and Lexi are the definition of opposites. Fez gets up and punches the lights out of Nate. The episode ends with Nate being carried out. The Euphorian’s cannot wait for next week, so they can find out what happens to Nate after the fight, what happens between Maddy and Cassie, and if Rue and Jules get together.
