In the past, Jamestown have received the money to build new facilities like a new auxiliary gym and to fix up their baseball field. However, Lafayette High School hasn’t had the funding and support to fix and build more facilities.

Recently, Lafayette was promised a new addition to their facilities with an auxiliary gym because of the amazing Athletic boosters who pushed for it. According to Athletic Director and head football Coach Andy Linn, this new addition will be a multi-purpose gym. Throughout the day, this new aux gym will split the gym classes, allowing one class to have each of the buildings. After school, the new gym could be used for practically any sport. It will allow teams to have at least one place to go while indoors. For example, if football is using the weight room, then wrestling can use the Gymnasium, and track can be in the aux gym. It allows our sports teams to have a place to go no matter what the weather is. As far as spring sports, both baseball and softball will be able to use this new gym, allowing them easy access to indoor cages. When asked who was to thank for the progress, Coach Linn said “Mr. Barner and the Athletic boosters really pushed it through.” With the combined effort of the boosters and the rest of Lafayette High School, the new addition to Lafayette should be online by the summer of 2018.
