The Lafayette boys soccer team has proven themselves worthy of a state title year after year. Every year they have just fallen short of one. But this year seems to be their year. The boys beat Midlothian High School in the regional semifinals giving them a secured spot in the 4A East state tournament.

After holding a conference record of 4-2-2, they had high hopes for the post season, but no one expected this much success coming their way. They took the conference title against Smithfield. The game was looking bad for them up until the half as they were down 3-0. Jason Eckenrode put 4 in the second half and Reeves Trott had one. The game ended in a PK shootout. Goal keeper David Domalski had an incredible three saves in the shootout. “Giving the team 7 shutouts throughout the season was one of the best feelings ever,” said senior captain and starting goal keeper David Domalski, “I just hope I’m able to keep it up and be able to provide them with more shutouts in the Regional final and the states games.”  The Rams are set to play Chancellor High School Monday night in the Regional finals. State semis is this Friday at Liberty University at either 2 or 4pm depending on the outcome of the Regional Final. The winner of that game will move onto the 4A State Final on Saturday.
