The WJCC school division just published that Monday March 6th, 2026 will be a regular school day and students are not happy about it. March 6th was one of the scheduled “teacher work days” that happen periodically throughout the school year. Consequently, for the school days lost because of the snow and ice, the administrators

of WJCC schools made the decision to make this teacher work day a regular school day that operates on normal school hours. This means that the day off and three day weekend that students are always looking forward to will no longer be taking place. Students will have to come to school on that Monday instead of having the planned day off. This is especially upsetting to many students because although the weather did not make going to school possible for a week, students had to partake in asynchronous schooling online, through their school laptops. This means that though students did not have to physically be in school to learn, they were still required to learn and complete assignments at home before a given deadline. Students fell that because they still had to participate in completing their class assignments for the day while at home, it should count as normal school, and they should not have to come into school on a day that they were supposed to have off in order to make up for the school days that were “missed”.
On the Monday that students will return to school after their weekend, they will operate on an “A day” class schedule, but this makes some very

upset. The reason for this is because the following school day, Tuesday March 7th, they will operate on an “A day” class schedule as well. Two school days with the same class schedule back-to-back is very uncommon and many students are not very fond of this decision.
