Why did you become a librarian?

I became a librarian because I wanted to stay in education and work with kids, but in a different way than in the classroom.  I am passionate about the freedom to read whatever book you choose to because reading helps us learn more about the world around us and people who may not always share the same belief system we do.  It is how we create empathy for others; it is vital to have this quality in our society.
