The Cannes Film Festival held in France, where thousands of films have been debuted.

Disney has done it again! A new movie is on the horizon to be released in theatres June 16th. The movie is based upon some major elements that make up our planet. Fire and water have been made into characters like Ember and Wade, that showcase what elements would be like as little characters. It is set in a little town where fire, water, land, and air all live together in peace and harmony. It is meant to represent the many different people and diverse culture.

The film is Pixar’s 27th film in the franchise and is expected to be a hit in theatres globally. In fact, it is scheduled to premiere in the Cannes film festival in France this summer. Following the American release June 16th, the film will close out the festival June 21st. The film is the 4th movie from the studio to be presented in the festival. Some other films of Pixar Animation’s movie to be played before Elemental are, Up, Inside Out, and Soul.

One of Pixar’s wonderful movies that helped set the stage for Elemental.

Peter Sohn, the creator of the film, recently shared in an interview with variety about his past childhood background. He revealed that the movie was inspired by his parents and some of the experiences that they went through. His parents, originally from Korea, immigrated to the United States to give them a better life. They opened a grocery store in The Bronx where there were many different people who went there. He explained that the challenges his parents went through inspired the ideas for cultures in a town. He also opened up about marrying someone who is not Korean, and the struggles that have come along with that. His idea of opposites attracting and cultures meshing with some conflict brought him to think of the fun little film.

Pixar has made films such as Turning Red, Coco and Luca, which all showcase characters with different cultures and backgrounds. For the city, the creators wanted to have a little village where people would mesh and rub together within the small town. To get inspiration for it to be in an animated film, creators spent hours watching towns like Amsterdam and France for ideas to transform it into a film. The movie’s main character, Ember, is fire, so they wanted to make a town that would be hard for fire to live in. They then came up with a water town, with canals and rivers, where Ember would have extra trouble fitting in. The water character, Wade, takes a liking to Ember, and finds her interesting. Since Wade is water, and Ember is fire, their friendship is contradictory to each other. The many elements in the movie leave it up to the watcher to interpret what emotion they are going to feel as they watch it. Just how the creator wants it to be. Wow, that’s some good stuff. So what’s next for Pixar? Who knows. All you need to know is that it comes out this summer, and you better be in the theatre!
