Meet Chad Cooke! On April 19th I had to pleasure to talk to Mr. Chad Cooke, he does so much for our students here at Lafayette dealing with so many different things behind and in front of the screen of our favorite school sports. Without further ado here is the great interview with Mr. Cooke

INTERVIEW

Q: What do you do here?

A: I am the Certified Athletic Trainer.  I manage the health and wellness of all our Ram Athletes. I am responsible for preventative injury management such as monitoring the weather, taping and bracing, and emergency action plans to name a few. I also provide wound and immediate injury care as well as monitor rehabilitation protocols.

Q: Why did you come to LHS and how long have you been here?

A: I came to Lafayette because it is close to home and I am able to work in the same building as my children. I also chose Lafayette because of the rich history and winning tradition of the Ram Athletic Department. This is my first year at Lafayette, but 25th year in education.

Q: What college did you go to?

A: I attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. There I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Health and Physical Education. I also received my Master of Science degree there in Sports Sciences.

Q: Why did you decide to teach?

A: Although I do not teach a class here at Lafayette, in my previous 24 years I taught Sports Medicine, Advanced Sports Medicine, Health and PE, and College and Career Prep.

Q: What do you love about your job?

A: I love working with the athletes and building relationships with the teams.  I love helping them return to play after injury and watching their success.

Q: What is your ideal vacation?

A: Camping near the water with my family and dogs.

Q: Cats or dogs?

A: Definitely Dogs!  I have 2 English Labradors, Sammi and Charlie.

Q: Movies or TV?

A: Movies are great, my favorite is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, but TV has a variety of options. I like to get caught up in action/thriller shows as well as mindless comedy, and will watch just about any sport that’s on.
