Meet Ashley Harris! This wonderful woman is one of the special education assistants that help our community here at Lafayette High School. For our Spotlight series, we decided to interview her and discover more information about her life, her motivations, and also some fun facts!

Q–What do you do/teach here?

A–I am a Teacher’s Assistant

Q–Why did you come to LHS and how many years have you been here?

A–I use to work at a local daycare in town. A lot of us decided to put in our applications at WJCC schools. I have been at LHS since 2006-2007

Q–What college did you go to?

A–John Tyler community College.

Q–Why did you decide to teach?

A–I love to help people achieve their goals.

Q–What do you love about your job?

A–I love the kids and co-workers.

Q–What’s your favorite color M&M?

A–Blue!

Q–What’s your favorite Starbucks order?

A–Strawberry Crème Frappuccino or a Strawberry Acai Lemonade with extra ice.

Q–What is your favorite thing about LHS?

A–The community of people at LHS.

Q–What is your biggest obstacle in life?

A–There is never enough time in a day!

Q–Do you have any advice or warnings for new teachers entering the career today?

A–Enjoy the little victories in the classroom, take time for yourself everyday, and greet everyone you can with a smile and kind words.
