Mexican food has overcome the United States, most Americans love the food.

¡Hola, exploremos el mundo mágico de México!

Mexico is one of the most beautiful and fascinating countries in the world. Its culture has helped to spice up America through dances, food, architecture, and so much more. All the distinct aspects of the Mexican culture have made a significant impact on Americans, but one of its greatest influences derives from delectable Mexican cuisine.

Abbey, Clara and I have eaten a lot of Mexican food in our lives so we are experts on the Mexican American food.

Abbey Touron, Clara Burgess, and I took on the responsibility of trying this sought-after cuisine for ourselves. The Spanish influence has seeped into every state in Virginia. Unfortunately, we have only been able to cover a couple states but they no doubt are influenced by Mexican cultures and are delicious. We are rating these restaurants on similar scales food, experience, and atmosphere.

The first Mexican Restaurant we visited was Plaza Aztec. Plaza is a well-known Mexican restaurant in Williamsburg, Virginia. Plaza has an 8/10 guacamole, 6/10 salsa because it has no flavor but does the job, the queso and white sauce are a 10/10, the chips are an 8/10 because they are crispy and never ending, the refried beans are saucy and the flavors dance on your tongue, so they received a 10/10. The atmosphere at the Plaza is top notch. The bathrooms are a 10/10, there is great music, and it is a party in there as long as you do not eat too many beans. There is a Mexican aspect in the structure of the building and especially inside. The overall experience plus the delicious main meals is a 9/10.

The main meal, at taco Mexicali, was delicious and would highly recommend the nachos.

Our next stop was Taco Mexicali. Taco Mexicali had raving reviews from our journalism class, so we had to try it. We came in and got seated right near the door, so it was a little chilly although it was a little chilly that did not affect their flavorful food. The salsa was 6.5/10 nothing special but still good, the white sauce was a 4/10 it was not that good, the queso received a 10/10 creamy and filled with flavor, the guac was a 5/10 and not that fresh, the chips were a 7/10 they were assorted colors and delicious, the refried bean were a weird orange color but they were creamy and delicious, so they received a 9/10, all our foods were great, overall, we give the food a 8/10. The service and atmosphere were great, we gave it a 7/10. We deducted 2 points because we were cold. The bathrooms there were a 0 “I felt like I was going to get kidnaped” said bathroom conisor Abbey Touron.

Mexico has a beautiful history and culture although the Nation has also struggled.

Our last stop in our adventure to find authentic and great Mexican food was La Terraza. The salsa was 8/10 but it was not that big. It would have been better if there was a bigger portion. The guacamole received a 9/10. It was fresh, chunky, and delicious. The queso was bland and had no spice, the chips received a 7.5/10 they were crunchy but were not colorful, the refried beans were good and creamy-9/10. Our main courses were great and filled us up. The bathrooms were 6/10, the sink water smelled like eggs. The food was delicious although the atmosphere was not like taco Mexicali was missing culture and friendliness. For that reason, we gave our overall experience an 8/10.

As I mentioned previously, Mexican culture has significantly impacted American culture. Even though there has been a constant struggle for Mexican people throughout history, their blending of traditions and Indigenous practices is remarkable. True authentic Mexican cuisine is hard to find but right here in our hometown of Williamsburg, Virginia, we have several restaurants that are top notch. The restaurants my friends and I visited did an excellent job of bringing a little bit of Mexico to our small community.
