John Adkins

John Adkins, Op-Ed Editor

John Adkins is the creator of the LHS Ledger’s school-related satire column, Fake News. Along with writing his column for the school paper, John serves as the president of the Spanish Honors Society at LHS, and is the literary editor of the school’s literary and arts magazine, Imprint. In his free time, John writes short stories, screenplays and other creative fiction, while pursuing his passion for film-making. When asked about his plans for the future, John said he’s fine with, “anything but math…”

 

Fun Fact: John’s favorite word is, “phlegm” because… spelling.

As an incentive for teachers Dr. Holloman gave teachers a slip of paper listing what they did and rewards they can earn from it. This award is most like a "Ram Star", for teachers who go above and beyond.

One of Dr. Hollomans last acts as principal was moving the morning announcements to before second block. Something the senior class has wanted since the beginning of the school year, due to the majority of the class not having a first block and not having to go to AEP.

The Lafayette car line has always been an issue, with bthe morning always full of angry parents waiting to drop their kids off, or students trying to rush out of the school at the end of the day. This was something Dr. Holloman tried to fix as it was one of her key issues.

The Aux Gym has been sought after for many years by the Lafayette community. Lafayette was the last of the WJCC High schools to get a secondary gym. This gym is possibly the largest legacy left by Dr. Holloman.
