Fortnite Battle Royale: a 100 player cartoon game that has attracted the whole world, but why?

One of the top reasons for its popularity is that it’s free, meaning people can download the game for no cost which heightens its popularity. But there is one factor that does cost money: customization. Players can get outfits of their favorite sports and topics, or outfits that just look cool.  But these “skins” aren’t cheap. One skin may cost as little as $10 or as much as $20. That is how Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite, make most of their money: they suck players into buying skins just to look cool in the game.

In fact, Forbes  reported that Fortnite brought in $126 million in February, $223 million in March, and $296 million in April. The company has so much cash that it’s forming a $100 million prize fund for upcoming Fortnite competitions.

Fortnite holds the record on the most money made out of a free game. There are also streamers that play the game live for people to watch.  These people solicit donations and sponsorships from their viewers, making their play a collective effort of sorts. Ninja, who is extremely popular makes more that $500,000 a month just sitting in his room playing Fortnite. Also popular rappers like Drake, Post Malone and Travis Scott play the game, often with each other, to gain money and views. Travis, Drake, and Ninja all played and streamed together and broke the record number of live viewers coming in at around at 667,000.

As you shop, you are able to purchase many items from the Fortnite store.

The game is so popular that people record their top clips and gameplays, and submit them to popular Instagram or YouTube accounts for money or to gain popularity. Fortnite is even so popular that there are private tutors to teach people how to win and play the game.

The reason why everyone loves Fortnite is simple.  It’s a fun game to play with friends or solo, in duos or squads with random people around the world or friends.

As Fortnite loads, there is a display of two characters wearing different skins.

To win the game a player (or team) must eliminate others to be the last person or squad alive. Fortnite isn’t the only game that is like this; there are many other rival games that accuse Epic of copying their games . One could argue that all of these game ideas are basically just stolen from the popular movie “The Hunger Games,” so all of them owe royalties to the book’s author and movie franchise.

The game isn’t even out yet, this is just a beta, which means the game is in an early stage development and the creators are just testing it to see if it runs smoothly and people like it. This allows game designers to make any necessary changes,. Plus, Fortnite updates its special fun game modes every couple of days which keeps it new to the player base.  This  is just another reason why people stay loyal to the game.

The game is so addictive, people have even been daring enough to play Fortnite through storms. One person had a tornado hit his house that ripped off his roof while he was playing Fortnite.  He wasn’t worried about his roof, but he was worried about finishing his game so he could win. Overall, Fortnite is a crazy popular game that came up out of no where that is extremely addictive and fun to many kids.
