On Thursday April 23rd, A group of Lafayette High school students began filming the begging segment of Every 15 minutes drunk driving. To begin the day, we met in the lecture hall where we fueled up on donuts and the “hurt” person had there make up done. After breakfast, we all loaded up in the vans with the cops where we then headed to the hospital. We hung around for a bit at the hospital till it was time for the filming to begin. We all piled into a room at the hospital to watch as the “hurt” person was rolled in and assessed. After we finished filming at the hospital, we had lots of extra time, so we made a pit stop at Starbucks. We waited around for a while at Starbucks and enjoyed our beverages and conversation with the cops.
Next stop- The courthouse, wo begin out visit at the courthouse we had to go through metal detectors to ensure we don’t have our phones or any other electronic devices. Jack troy than got in his jump suit and headed down to the jail cell where they filmed him getting booked. Then, we had the opportunity to talk to the cops, lawyers and other important people who work within the courthouse on different cases. This was a very cool experience and was very informative. Then it was time for the actual court case on Jack hitting and killing someone while drunk driving. This was cool to sit in on as it was delt with like a real case and he was given a sentence based on what he did. Now it’s time to head to Chickahominy State Park to party! We hung out, laid in hammocks and took advantage of the pretty views while we prepared for the party scene. It’s now time for the last scene and the scene that everything stems from…the party. We “party” for a bit, while the drown records us. After the party we clean everything up and get excited as pizza was ordered and heading our way. We then got to relax and recap our day while enjoying pizza and hanging out. After this fun but long day we headed back to the school! We can’t wait to see how the video comes together!
What and When is it?

Every 15 minutes a person dies as a result of drunk driving. James City County Police created an event to warn our students of the dire consequences of poor decisions with alcohol and driving. On May 14th, all juniors and seniors will attend a dramatization of a car accident near the tennis courts with the police, fire department, and first responders. The next day, our students will listen to a presentation from the JCC Police School Resource Officers, students, and families about the consequences of driving distracted and under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
This is your reminder to never drink and drive!
