Over the 2026 NBA All-Star weekend, Kevin Durant’s alleged burner twitter account was leaked. The screenshots of the messages come from a username “@gethigher77”. The account is now private, and there’s no strong evidence that this is really Kevin Durant, but basketball fans and even sports analyst Bill Simmons says there is “a lot of signs that it’s him”. This is not the first time this happened, back in 2017 he was caught using fake accounts to

talk trash to haters on Twitter.
These screenshots talk about current teammates Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith Jr. He also talks about former teammates/coaches and other players around the like Kyrie Irving, Steve Kerr, Nikola Jokic, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Luka Doncic, James Harden, Devin Bokker, Frank Vogel, Russell Westbrook, Ben Simmons, Chris Paul, Trae Young, and Kawhi Leonard.
Even after 2017, Durant has acknowledged continuing to use burner accounts and having more than one. He has confirmed multiple times on podcasts and from past incidents. The messages that were leaked of the All-Star weekend show unfiltered NBA knowledge and frustrated tone that Durant is known for.
Fans figured out that the @gethigher77 account was created in August 2021 and follows a small circle of people close to KD, including private coaches. Fans also figured out that the banner of the burner account, Kevin posted on his main account the around the same time the burner was created.

The account didn’t go viral immediately. It started in a small online community where users noticed an account that was highly informed about internal information about teams. Then fans found that the account followed people in Durant’s close circle and that the account would respond quickly to messages talking about KD.
For Durant, social media has been part of his identity. He is always engaging with fans, responding to people hating, and defending himself. So, any anonymous account that is defensive, and has a lot of basketball knowledge draws attention to him.
February 18, 2026, was the Houston Rocket’s first practice back from the All-Star break, Kevin Durant was asked about the situation, and he said “I’m not here to get into Twitter nonsense. I’m here to focus on the season, keep it pushing.” He also asked about the team chemistry, he then replied, “My teammates know what it is we been locked in all season.”
