Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Lupica

Learn more about Mrs. Lupica!

Mrs. Lupica is my math teacher here at Lafayette. Since joining her class I have finally understood math, and I am not alone in this. Mrs. Lupica’s teaching style is immaculate, and helpful for many students. Due to this fact, she is so loved at Lafayette, by all of her students, making her a perfect candidate to receive a staff spotlight. I asked Mrs. Lupica to answer fifteen questions to help everyone get to know her better, as she makes such a big effort to get to know her own students.

I went to VPCC (Formerly TNCC), Mary Baldwin University, and Southern New Hampshire University.
3. Why did you become a teacher?
I have always wanted to be a teacher, even as a little girl. I got inspired to become a math teacher in 6th grade. I love being able to show multiple methods to finding a solution to math problems. It’s like life; we all take different paths in life but at the end of the day we are all just trying to find happiness and our purpose in life.

This will be my 5th year at Lafayette High School.

Mrs. Lupica has been teaching for 15 years, a big achievement. (Halfwitty)

I have 2 daughters, Madison (17 years old) and Lilianna (3 years old) with my wonderful husband Tony. We also have a Pitbull named Shaggy.
7. What has been your biggest challenge in life, and how have you overcome it?
Becoming a mother has been the biggest challenge and blessing in my life. It is a lot of hard work and has its emotional challenges especially since I work, too. It is difficult balancing work, home, and personal life. I am still overcoming this on a daily basis, but I lean on my support system and ask for help when I need it.
8. Do you have any hobbies, or things you enjoy to do outside of school?
I love drawing anime characters. I also love being near water (pool, beach, etc.)
9. Do you prefer movies or tv?
10. Lefty or righty?

Mrs. Lupica has a strong preference for dogs. (Ken Billington)

11. Cats or dogs?
Definitely Dogs
12. Hot or cold?
13. What is your favorite ice cream?
Mint Chocolate Chip or Mint Oreo
14. What is your dream pet?
A tiger (as long as it wouldn’t eat me!)
15. Have you had any jobs other than teaching, or any jobs you would like to explore eventually?
I worked at Busch Gardens as an artist (face painter, henna tattoos, hair wrapping, etc). I absolutely loved it but hated the heat in the middle of the summer.
I will always be a teacher. I love it too much to change careers.
