Learn more about Lafayette Fall Sports!

Lafayette Sports all have great athletes! Two of our fall sports Football and Cheer have been State Champions in the last 2 years. We are hoping that our Varsity Football can get another ring for all of us! Everyone was very excited for the final regular season to watch our varsity football take the win to win the Bay River District Championship!

Let’s  look at the entire season’s sports:

First, we have varsity football. Varsity is 8-1 with 1 more regular season game against Warhill on 11/4. This game is predicted to be one of the hardest games for our varsity football. Varsity Football is 1st in the Bay River District.

The game against Warhill High School will determine if we win the Bay River District and where we place in the Playoffs. Depending on the Warhill game it will tell us if we  will play home or away in the first round of Playoffs Jaylen Pretlow is leading varsity with 94.8 average yards per game and 8 touchdowns. Demarcus Lawrence is leading the team with 82.5 yards average per game rushing. Lafayette JV Football is 7-3 this season. Their 3 losses are against Smithfield, King George, and Woodside. Their last regular season game is on 11/02 against Warhill’s JV and they finished with a win! The final score was 42-0 for the last JV game of the season. On 11/10 we won for our first round of playoffs against Colonial Heights 51-20. On 11/18 we will play Lake Taylor at home for the 2nd round of playoffs.

Women’s field hockey is a popular sport and our LHS team is having a great year!

Next is Varsity Volleyball, they are 1-18. Lauren Rich leads with kills per set which is 1.9, hitting percentage is 0.082, digs per set is 4, serving aces is 22, and aces per set is .4. Lauren Rich was named Player of the Match on Oct. 13th against York. They have 2 graduating seniors which are Jacy Ramos and Ana Britton. Lafayette JV Volleyball ended their season with a 6-12 record. Their wins were against Lakeland, Smithfield, Tabb, Smithfield, Bruton, and Poquoson. The seniors will be deeply missed!

Field Hockey is next in our Lafayette Fall Sports. Field Hockey was 3-12. Varsity made it to the Class 3A Regionals. They made it past the first round against Colonial Heights with a win of 4-1. They then played York and lost 6-0. Their wins were against Hampton Roads Academy with a 3-0. Varsity  won 6-0 to Smithfield. JV Field Hockey finished their season with a 4-4-1 record. They ended their season with a win against Jamestown with 2-1. JV ended 3rd in the Bay River District.

Our 2022 Sideline Cheer Team.

Next, we have Lafayette Cheerleading. Our varsity competition team made it to regionals. They won states last year for the 3A division. They hit in all of their competitions to make it to the 2nd round until the last time at Regionals.  They have 9 graduating seniors.

Lastly, we have Cross Country Boys and Girls. On November 2nd, our running boys and girls competed in our Region 3A XC Championship in Chesapeake VA. Both girls and boys placed 2nd in the region. 4 boys and 4 of our girls earned All Region Honors. They are headed to the state meet for both boys and girls team!
