The time has come when, finally, one of our biggest rapper and Instagram stars may be put behind bars.

Tekashi6ix9ine (his legal name Daniel Hernandez), widely known for his multi-colored hair and his multi-colored teeth, is being charged for racketeering and eight other charges.

Tekashi6ix9ine was arrested in 2018 for racketeering and other charges. In January, 2019 he pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and 8 other charges. His sentence started at 32 years in 2018, and he now faces a minimum of 47 years. Eddie Nunez, a Lafayette student who is a fan of the rapper, said “I think Tekashi6ix9ine should go to jail because of all his wrong doings. But I don’t think he should go for more than 40 years. I think he should go for 20 years or less. He has a kid. His daughter shouldn’t live without a father.  He will learn from his consequences and know that he shouldn’t continue the thing he did in the past.”

Students thinks that Tekashi6ix9ine is a artistic person because his teeth and hair is very colorful.

Another Lafayette student who wishes to remain anonymous said, “I personally think he should not go to jail. I understand he made bad decisions and hung out with the wrong crowd but he got himself into all of this because he lost a father figure and now his daughter might not have a father figure until he is out of prison. She might get herself involved in the bad things like he did. Even if he goes to prison I don’t think he should be there no longer than 10 or 15 years.”

Tekashi6ix9ine offered to give the federal court information about the inner workings of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods and in exchanged a reduced sentence. Tekashi6ix9ine outed Cardi B and claimed she was Nine Trey gang. She admitted that she was a blood but not a Nine Trey blood. She says that she is from a different set called the Brims. He also outed Jim Jones and claimed he was a Nine Trey blood gang. Jim has not confirmed whether or not this is true. Most people believe he is a 9Trey blood gang. Tekashi6ix9ine, in court, also said that his song “GUMMO” has many of the Nine Trey blood gangsta members.

Many students love Tekashi6ix9ine and his music.

Mr. Hernandez is 22 years old. He was born in May 8, 1996. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He was raised with his older brother, Oscar, by his parents. At the age of 13, his father was shot dead not too
far away from home. Since the incident, Daniel suffered from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. He started to act out in middle school and eventually was expelled from school. He later worked at a couple job
as a busboy and more. Hernandez then became a drug dealer and sold drugs like heroin and more. He ended up getting arrested and there in prison he met the Nine Trey gang. In 2015 his girlfriend got pregnant and
Daniel was determined to support his child. He did not want his daughter to grow up without a father and the safe shelter of a stable home. He then decided to become a rapper.

While in class, students admired Tekashi6ix9ine’s colorful appearance.

At the age of 21 he successfully became a famous rapper.  Tekashi6ix9ine is mostly known for his song “GUMMO”, which reached almost 12 million views on YouTube, becoming #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. He then released many other hits that got on Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200. The way he handles his fame is unique: not spending money on luxury. He
claims that money and women are not everything. He also claims that he won’t wear expensive clothing
now that he is famous. He is very different from most other rappers. Mr. Hernandez sounds and the way he presents himself is very different than any other rapper. He also donated money to schools in his
community so they can afford to give the student food and take them on field trips. He also donates
money to students who need money for clothes and other necessities.

This rapper’s life is very interesting, complicated, and complex. He expresses what he went through, through the sound of his music. We can all see how this was a domino effect because his past lead him
to how the present is for him.
