Nizuc, the exotic resort decorates their resort with trees in water to represent health and the spirit of living. When I first saw this masterpiece, all I thought of was the beauty of the plants. Later on, I never would have realized that the water and the trees had a meaning for people to be inspired. There was also a walkway where you could walk in between the trees to capture a better sense of nature and its purpose.

My uncle, Neil Kahonivitz, is the chairman of the Big Apple Circus located in New York City. 2 years ago, Just last year, my uncle was approached by wealthy investors to re open the circus with Neil at the helm of the leadership staff. The investors knew my uncle was in the circus business when he was young, he put himself through medical school being a trapeze flyer to later on be one of the best back surgeons in the world. Currently, the circus is performing at Lincoln center in the heart of the Big Apple, but will later on travel to Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington D.C to perform. Once approaching Thanksgiving, my uncle had told me that the circus had a carriage in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and my uncle allowed my sister and I to be in the parade with the circus performers.

While viewers are watching at home, there is a special spot in the parade were all acts are televised and perform. When we crossed the famous green carpet along the parade route, their were plenty of TV cameras filming and a ton or famous news reporters like Savannah Guthrie who co-hosts the today show. During the parade, the green carpet is where all of the celebrities and bands perform on television. Participating in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade was a once in a life time opportunity and I will never forget the experience I had while being in the parade.

Hours before the parade, fans line up along the streets to witness the different types of floats and acts. While the carriage was rolling down the streets, the sidewalks were full of fans and security guards. The security was very strict at the parade because of the past terrorist events that have taken place at major tourist events. All of the fans that were watching the parade, they were freezing since the temperature was 7 degrees and all of their bodies were freezing. The parade was recorded as the coldest Macy's Day Parade ever. Since the weather was cold and windy, some of the floats had to alter their designs so it wouldn't get damaged during the parade.

Some actors participate in the parade, but most celebrities in the parade sing songs when they are televised in the parade. Another act in the parade was Ashley Tisdale. Ashley was known for playing the role of Sharpay in High School Musical. She has also played many lead roles in different types of movies. While looking at her at the parade, it looked like she was very cold and didn't want to be present at the parade. While she was performing at the parade, she was caught doing lip sync because she was messing up the lyrics on tv and the song kept on playing. However, Ashley Tisdale was complimented by the broadcasters about her amazing outfit she wore during the parade.

In the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, another sight to see is all of the different types of celebrities that perform on TV. On the Bake Shop float, the musical group, Pentatonix, performed songs while rolling down the street on their float that was pulled by a truck. The Pentatonix were first discovered when they won an a cappella contest. The group was then signed by a major record label and have been recording new songs and other songs remixes. The music that they record is different than any other artists because they produce all of the sounds from their mouth and they don't use any type of prerecorded tunes or sounds.

For the Big Apple Circus carriage, all of the performers were required to perform a variety of acts during the parade to pleasure the fans and the viewers at home. When all the performers arrived, they got to their spots and prepared themselves for their acts that they would perform during the parade. One of the performers walked on stilts during the parade. With wearing stilts, the performers height was around 7 and a half feet tall. Some of the other performers juggled or rode unicycles to entertain the crowds as they walked through the streets of New York City. The trapeze performers just walked beside me since it is almost nearly impossible to perform a trapeze act through the streets. Some of the other floats had celebrities that would sing when they got to the spot where they recorded for TV.

During the parade, most fans look forward to witnessing the huge balloons that fly throughout the streets of New York. While walking down the street where all the floats were lined up, down one of the streets the balloons were wrapped up in nets to ensure the balloons did not fly away before the parade. The night before the parade, the balloons are blown up on the street then stored in a warehouse near the parade route. On average, the balloons take about 6 to 7 hours to fully inflate. Since the parade has been occuring, Felix the Cat has been the only ballon to be in the parade every year. Minutes before the parade, the nets are cut free and the stings attached to the balloons are assigned to people for them to hold while they walk the balloons through the streets. Once the parade is finished, the balloons are deflated in the middle of the streets, then stored in a warehouse until next year's Thanksgiving parade.

The morning of the parade, the security is ordered to line up the floats in the way they will be introduced on TV. Once we arrived to the parade and walked up the stairs from the subway, I was shocked at all the different types of floats and balloons that was in the parade. I have always seen the floats on tv when I watch the parade, but seeing everything in person is definitely different than seeing it on a tv screen. Many of the floats had themes to it and were decorated with amazing designs. For example, the Kalahari Resorts and Conventions displayed a float with a jungle theme to show the viewers at home that they should go to their resort to have an adventurous time. At the end of the parade for the grand finale, everyone waits for Santa to come down the street on his sleigh to see all the young children. Santa is always at the end of the parade because everyone can experience the Thanksgiving floats then they are able to get in the Christmas mood.

For all participants in the parade, they are required to wear costumes based on the theme of their float or carriage. Since my uncle allowed my sister and I to be in the parade, we had to try on different types of costumes so we would blend in with the performers. My costume was a bedazzled jacket that was worn by a ringmaster a few years ago before the circus went bankrupt. The jacket gave off glimpses of sparkles that reflected of the lights. My sister had to wear an old fashion trapeze costume that was worn by the trapeze performers during the shows. While trying on our costumes, we had to think of what was to conserve heat since the estimated temperature during the parade would be 22 degrees, but actually feeling like 6 degrees with the windchill. My sister and I also had to try on different types of thermal clothing that would keep us warm while we walked along side the carriage the next day. Once we got all of our clothing fitted, we took the costumes back to our hotel to prepare for the parade the next day.
