Fall and Winter fashion trends aren’t just about clothes. Makeup matters, and the hot colors this year are dark burgundy and smokey pink hues.

Falling snow and Christmas lights can only mean one thing. Winter fashion! Coming out of summer and autumn, everyone is looking forward to winter shopping for a completely new wardrobe to enjoy during the cold season. However, before your big shopping trip, you might want to take a look at some of the trendy new fashions for the winter of 2018-2019!

Chokers like these are back in style after the return of 80s styles.

The first thing to start off your new winter look is, of course, a new wardrobe. After numerous winter themed fashion shows done by big name designers like Dior and Prada, people all over have begun to style many of the new fads. Women have started wearing big, thicker coats on top of thinner ones in order to contrast colors and add to the outfit.

For patterns, they have started sporting many different animal prints. From zebra to cheetah, to the most popular, snake skin, women all over the country head to the closest fashion store to purchase some new and fashionable animal print clothing. Along with the animal print, another new trend that has resurfaced is neon colors. This comes along with the return of numerous trends from the 80s and 90s. Women pair bright colors with dark ones like black, gray, or navy in order to create a contrast and emphasize their neon clothes. Other popular patterns involve sparkles and sequins, and other 80s styles like bodycon dresses, chokers, ruffles, and shimmery fabric. Many people like Kylie Johnson, Junior at Jamestown High School are excited about the return of old trends. “I’m really happy about the 80s comeback. I can’t see myself wearing animal print though.” While women are sporting many new styles, men are generally sticking to the basics, with a few new additions like a rise in floral print, plaids, stripes, and cuffed jeans.

There are many bright colors to choose from, so pick whichever color you like best!

The second winter style to stay updated on of course, is makeup. With makeup trends changing from season to season, it’s hard to keep up. If you are expecting winter to bring in the darker tones for makeup, you may be surprised. Along with the clothes, neon eyeshadow is back in, and women are styling bright colors paired with exciting, colorful glitter, drawing attention to the eyes.

If you’re planning on wearing mascara this winter, you better plan on wearing a whole lot of it. Along with colorful eyes, big, bold lashes are the thing to have.

There are many different types of mascara available at your closest drugstore!

This fad recently began over the fall season and has continued into the winter. The purpose is to draw more attention to the eyes and highlight them. Many women may simply buy plenty of tubes of mascara for everyday application, while some might head to the store to pick up some stick-on lashes, and the dedicated ones even save up the money to get permanent eyelash extensions.

They pair these big and bold eyelashes with equally bold lips. Bright lipsticks have taken over the market due to the popularity of Kylie Jenner’s new cosmetic line of lipsticks and lip glosses.

With all the eccentric colors, women decide to wear very minimal foundation. Thankfully, all of these numerous popular trends are available at your local Ulta or Sephora, or even sometimes just a drugstore. Rylie Hurt, a 26-year-old resident of Washington, DC gives some advice about makeup, saying, “makeup stores are too expensive. When I want to keep up with the new trends I just head to CVS and get some of the cheap stuff.”

To complete your winter look, you need to finish it off with a new hair style. Ditch those summer highlights and go darker! Many women are deciding to dye their hair red. Some going with a dark burgundy, and some leaning more to the brighter reds. Some women decide against the red, but still go with darker tones for their hair. Blondes get lowlights or even just commit to the entire brunette look. Updos are now it style, so if you’re one to leave your hair down, you might want a change! Girls are sporting anything from ponytails to buns while some people go with curls.

To get those big voluminous curls, purchase a curling iron of your choice!

Big hair is back in for the winter, so if you have straight hair, consider purchasing a curling iron! “I have super curly hair,” says 17 year old Sofia Long. “I’ve always straightened it, but now it’s in style so I love it!” From clothes to hair to makeup, make sure you keep up to date with the newest and hottest winter fashion!
