The Tatum Split

Another seemly perfect Hollywood relationship has come to a close, leaving everyone in shock.

Taken just a few months back, the Tatums look very much in love as they attend a red carpet event together.

With the recent breakups of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, Zayn and Gigi Hadid, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris, and many more, it seems like nobody is staying together in Hollywood. The most recent breakup is one nobody saw coming: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. In early April they announced their separation saying they lovingly chose to separate after 9 years of marriage. This Hollywood romance started when Channing and Jenna met on the set of Step Up in 2006. Tatum recalled that he almost didn’t ask Dewan out, but you could tell that they had chemistry from a video posted from their first audition together in 2006.

In 2009, they married in a fairytale Malibu wedding and had their first child, Everly, in 2013. Channing and Jenna were always seen as an “it” couple with countless award show and red carpet appearances. The reason that fans everywhere were shocked by this was because it seemed like they had a perfect relationship. In December 2017, Channing posted a loving birthday tribute to Jenna, which just validated to the fans that they were perfectly fine. Just a few weeks before the separation announcement, there was another post of them in a side-by-side selfie after getting their faces painted by Everly.

The bomb Tatum dropped on his followers via Instagram got an astounding 105,000 comments and over 1 million likes.

What people didn’t see was that their relationship was far from perfect. Jenna told Health  that she despises the word perfect, especially when discussing her marriage. She also added, “We fight like other couples, we disagree about things, we have days where we don’t really like each other.” Apparently, Channing had already moved out of their $6.5 million family home. Sources close to the couple say that the separation was ‘a long time coming.’ A few days after, Jenna was seen spending time with her family with no wedding ring on. Within the last year, the couple grew apart and it was in their best interest to split. They both want to keep a good relationship, calling themselves “two best friends,” in raising their daughter, who is only four.

Another thing to consider is how Tatum’s $50+ million net worth will be settled, seeing as how he is one of the highest paid male actors. The way the money is split depends on whether they signed a prenuptial agreement before marrying. If not, under California law, the assets would be split 50/50. With another Hollywood relationship ending, let’s hope that the rest of our favorite couples stay together for the long haul.
