2017-2018 Winter Forecast Predictions
Snowball fights, icicles hanging from street lamps, and black ice coating the pavement. Will you be needing your winter coat this year?
According to weather.com this year’s temperatures are expected to be more “normal” than last year but, that may change because of the possible La Niña that may appear across the Northwest leading to colder weather and snow.
If the expected La Niña doesn’t occur this winter you can expect:
Artic and North Atlantic Oscillation (the path that the air fluctuates) – This can influence the amount of Artic air mass that enters into the Southern U.S.
Eastern Pacific Oscillation– This can disturb the position of where the cold air masses will be located in the northern U.S.
Also, accuweather.com had a few predictions for this years winter weather. Accu weather also says we should be expecting a La Niña to bring snow in the Rockies and, possibly extreme weather conditions in Southeast, Tennessee Valley.
Additionally, farmersalmanac.com contributed a forecast for this winter weather. Farmer’s almanac predicts a that a large portion of the Northern U.S. can expect milder temperature than usual. In the eastern and central parts of the country they can await colder temperatures than last winter. All in all, Farmer’s almanac expects this winter to be more on the normal side referring to temperature in the eastern and central parts of the country.
