Local Churches That Give Back To The Community
Local churches that help with shelter or donate food for others during Thanksgiving. and the Holiday Season
Tis’ the season for giving. so those in need for food your in luck. Amongst all the churches the give food to the community for thanksgiving time.
For those who do not have enough money to buy special holiday dinners during this festive time of year, about half the churches in Williamsburg will provide help. Although there are others, here we profile three local sources for people and families who are not lucky enough to enjoy plentiful resources for celebration during the holidays.
Saint Bede Catholic Church
3686 Ironbound road, Williamsburg VA 23185.
Food donations for all holidays. Packing day for Thanksgiving is Monday, November 23rd. Want to help out or donate? They are in need of canned corn, yams, fruit, green beans, instant mash potatoes, gravy, stuffing and canned cranberry sauce.
Fish Inc.
312 Waller mill road, #800 Williamsburg VA
Fish donates food, clothing, and housewares to needy and indigent families and individuals. In 2015, they provided about 150,000 meals, 9,815 outfits of clothing, and housewares to 589 homes. In 2016, 378 households asked for help from Fish. They will begin giving food away for Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 22, at noon, as well as on Thursday and Friday, November 23-24.

The Community Chapel
3899 John Tyler Hwy, Williamsburg, VA 23185
They help through their House of Mercy housing program, which works to enable homeless people move into homes, and includes provision of furniture and household items. They also work in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity, and have recently finished the framing of a new house in the Grove community. The Chapel is in need of 8-10 volunteers on Saturday, December 2.
