Senior Matt Rice has committed to play Division One lacrosse at Mount Saint Mary’s, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. His mother, Trish Rice, eldest brother Thomas Rice and youngest brother Connor Rice attended the signing. Thomas is also the Lafayette Lacrosse coach.

Rice has played lacrosse since he could walk and lift a stick, due to his older brothers being involved in the sport. His first time on an organized team was when he was just eight years old. Rice has been a part of the Lafayette Lacrosse team since its inception three years ago.

Matt is an attackman on the field, which is an offensive position. This past season Rice lead the league with 117 points, 55 assists—both league records—and also ranked 3rd in goals with 62.  In addition to setting new records, Rice was also team captain for the Rams last season.

As well as playing lacrosse, Rice has also been an avid swimmer, swimming competitively all four years of his high school career. He will be swimteam captain in the upcoming season.

While at Mount Saint Mary’s, in addition to playing lacrosse Rice plans to study Finance and Mathematics. Matt stated, “I’m very excited to continue my lacrosse career at the Mount.”
