“Thor: Ragnarok” Movie Review
Movie-goers will not be disappointed when viewing Marvel’s latest film extravaganza
Deciding which new movie to see this weekend? Well, your search is over.
On Sunday, November 5th I viewed “Thor: Ragnarok” at our local Movie Tavern. This film told the story of the god of thunder returning to his beloved home Asgard, only to find his father near demise. In the adventures that follow, Thor and the Hulk form a team to defeat a rising enemy. Ragnarok starred Chis Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston, Tessa Thompson and Mark Buffalo. The film was directed by Taika Waititi.
Overall, Ragnarok was a great film. It was thrilling, humorous, and most importantly had an extremely talented cast. Chris Hemsworth continues to do an amazing job embodying the personality of a god and Tom Hiddleston was excellent in executing Loki’s mischievous antics. Taika Waititi deserves a big round of applause for his directing. The scene cuts and shot angles really enhanced the experience of the viewer. Mayes C. Rubeo, costume designer, outdid herself with costume design; the costumes looked amazing and extremely realistic on the big screen.
Naturally, there are always things that could have been done better. For starters, the cast was great but it would have been better if a younger actress had been cast instead of Cate Blanchett, to make her character more believable. Also, the film would be better if Eric Pearson didn’t lay the comedy on so thickly; it felt like he was trying a little too hard to make the film funny.
In conclusion, “Thor: Ragnarok” gets a 9/10. The film was very enjoyable and it is definitely worth viewing as soon as you can.
