Djo, or also known as Joe Keery, has dropped as new album on April 4th, 2025, titled “The Crux.” The Crux is an indie-pop album written and produced by Joe Keery and Adam Thein that has 12 songs and a duration of 45 minutes. This album has been widely received positive towards critics with “All Music” by Matt Collar stating, “With the Crux, Keery doesn’t just prove he more than owns his space in the pop world as Djo, he’s found a home.” Keery indeed has found a home in the music industry, with selling 169,000 copies in its first week, which debuted at number one on the U.S Billboard 200 chart. Joe Keery has also released a statement about his new and profound album stating, “The Crux it really is basically just what’s going on in my life. It feels good, though. For me, it’s cathartic to have an outlet to get it out.” Joe has openly stated that he uses his tracks and music as a bases on how he conducts himself as a person using his life experiences such as Basic Being Basic, one of his hit tracks that has over 21 million streams on Spotify alone. Basic Being Basic, one of his highest rated songs on his new album, The Crux, talks about his unforgiving fear of being with people who are quote on quote, “basic.” He expresses how he feels, talks about his worries and experiences, and all while doing it puts into a ballad of some sort that makes the song sound electrifying yet heartbreaking. I truly believe there has been a lack of good indie-pop music drops this summer, and I think Djo saved the day once again dropping “The Crux.” What else do you think Djo can do next to save indie alternative music this summer?
