This year, the Washington Commanders have made one of the biggest comebacks in NFL History. This team went from winning Super Bowls, to being the worst team in the NFL for about two decades, to making it to the NFC Championship. This season, Commanders fans were finally able to celebrate their team, and celebrate the new rookie quarterback, Jayden Daniels.
The Commanders have one of the League’s biggest football fan bases. When the Commanders first started playing, they were a very successful team. In my lifetime, this is the first year that the Commanders have truly succeeded. I remember being a little girl, putting on my jersey with my dad every Sunday to watch his favorite team play. Sometimes I wondered why he would root for a team that was just so bad, but now I realize it was for this moment. This year, the Washington Commanders had one of their best seasons yet.
Jayden Daniels was exactly what the Washington Commanders needed. This season many of the Commanders’ games have always come down to the final moment, and Jayden Daniels knows that. But instead of cracking under the pressure of that one moment that determines the win or the loose, he stays calm, focused, and makes plays that win the games. It is amazing that someone so young can be so focused and calm. When Jayden Daniels is asked about how he stays calm, and about how he achieves these amazing plays, he says that he owes it all to God. Having a quarterback that is not only good at football, but is a genuinely good person means so much to Commanders fans. Daniels has been able to bring the team together, allowing some of the team’s best players to shine; Terry McLaurin has been able to elevate his game this season, being a favorite pass target of the quarterback.
Jayden Daniels has accomplished things that no rookie quarterback in the NFL has ever been able to accomplish, and is a favorite for Rookie of the Year. I think that if Daniels continues on the path that he is on, he could become one of the best quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen. With his calm nature, good heart, and his passion for football, Daniels has inspired many and will continue to be an ambassador of the game.
