The 2024 election was highly anticipated, and the results have surprised many. Many people speculate about why the Democratic party lost, and people question whether there was more that we could have done.
To start, the Democratic Party believes that Trump is a dangerous, racist, and unjust leader. Based on his actions, we see that some of this might be true. Even though the Democratic party is making this argument, it has still failed to convince the Republican party that it is a good reason not to elect Trump.
Trump has been convicted of 34 felonies and was impeached multiple times, but that information has not affected most of the voters.
One reason that people think the Democratic party lost, is because Kamala Harris’s theory, which was that she had the vote of most White Suburban voters was wrong. It is clear based on the voting results that it was not the case. Kamala also used fear tactics, by calling out all the things that Trump has done and putting it into extreme terms to try and get people to vote for her. Once again, this tactic clearly did not work. All Kalama was doing was pointing out facts based on Trump’s past behavior. For example, in 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine Trump said that he thought that the invasion was genius and savvy. In a radio interview with “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton,” Trump responds to the invasion by saying “Oh that’s wonderful.” Trump is saying that the thought of an aggressive invasion led by a dictator was wonderful. I think that what Kalama was doing by calling Trump out was completely fair. She was only calling out Trump, on facts, she was not over-exaggerating. Trump has done many things to show us that he is not fit to lead. For example, there is clear evidence that Trump encouraged the storm of the capital. Kamala pointing that out was just her stating the truth.
Trump also likes to use fear tactics as a way of getting people to vote for him. He makes up things that are not true and uses fake fear tactics to try and scare people into voting for him. Now, a good argument for Trump that many Republicans make is that, ever since Trump has been out of office, inflation and the economy have been at their worst. Many people blame this on Biden and the Democratic party. A quote tweeted by Kevin McCarthy says, “Inflation is running rampant due in part to out-of-control spending from President Biden”. The Democratic party believes that Biden and the Democratic party are not to blame for this, because when Biden took office, he had to start from a foundation that was already dealing with hardships. Economists who spoke directly to ABC News say that putting all of the blame on Biden was an overstatement. They said that what caused this was the rapid increase in prices imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
I think that it is unfair to blame the Democratic party for the bad economy because there is no evidence that it would have been any better with Trump in office. To make these claims, I think that there needs to be more information, and with the results of the recent election, we will be able to get that information.
Overall, there are many reasons that the Democratic party lost, but there are also many reasons why Trump should have not won. In the end, Trump is not for the people, and he does not want what is best. The only thing that he is truly concerned about is himself and has a country we should be truly concerned.
