Mr. Chai is a new Econ and Personal Finance teacher here at Lafayette. One of our reporters, Emma decided to interview him to let the school community know more about him and his story. Enjoy!
Q: What is your name?
A: Mr. Chai, do you know how to spell it?
Q: Do you enjoy Lafayette so far?
A: Yes, it is great.
Q: How many classrooms do you teach in?
A: I teach in 6 different classrooms; I am a cart teacher. Although it is hectic, I do get to know some of the teachers better.
Q: What class(es) do you teach?
A: I only teach Econ.
Q: Where did you work before this?
A: At Tabb for 12 years. I worked with many of the Lafayette staff like Mr. Green, Mr. Rice, and Mrs. Rutherford.
Q: Where are you from?
A: Tennessee (won’t be specific for cyber security reasons).
Q: What were you for Halloween last year?
A: Ob1 from Star Wars (picture below).
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Watching sports (UVA/ Commanders, Caitlin Clark) and playing golf.
Q: What about your family?
A: I have two daughters- Kelsey and Chloe.
Q: What is your favorite lesson to teach?
A: Stock market.
Q: Favorite food?
A: Pizza and prime rib.
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: No, I love animals but have no pets.
Q: Favorite movie of all time?
A: The Godfather.
Q: What are your favorite bands/artists?
A: Van Halen and ACDC.
Q: Do you enjoy travelling?
A: I don’t travel much, but my daughter has been to Costa Rica, Alaska, and more.
Q: What’s a crazy fun fact about you?
A: I have a snapchat streak with my daughter Kelsey of over 2100.
Q: What is a favorite memory you have with a student?
A: Being invited to VA Tech graduation by one of my favorite students a few years back.
