Mrs. Smith
Welcoming one of our newest teachers to the Ram family!
Mrs. Smith is our newest English teacher here at Lafayette, and she is going on her twelfth year of teaching. She has also taught middle school in Newport News, Virginia and taught writing in Chattanooga and Sequatchie County, Tennessee.
“For the past seven years I taught English at Jamestown High,” Mrs. Smith said, “in addition to being the English facilitator during Summer School.”
As it is Mrs. Smith’s first year here she has a lot of new things to adjust to. “I am looking forward to establishing myself in the Lafayette community by building relationships with students, their families, and my colleagues.”
This fall she is teaching two English 10 classes and one Honors English 10 class. In the spring she will be teaching one Honors 10 English and two English 9 classes.
A fun fact about Mrs. Smith is that in high school she was a part of her school’s dance and gymnastics team. Along with these activities she participated in theatre and choir.
“There truly is a sense of family and mutual accountability at Lafayette,” Mrs. Smith told us. She went on to say, “My students are fun, interesting and hard- working. The ideas [they] express in their writing and during class seminars continue to impress me. I look forward to seeing [them] each day.”
