Ariana Grande Holds A Benefit Concert After Terrorist Attack
On May 22nd there was terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande Concert. The concert was coming to a close when there was an explosion outside of the arena, and everyone started to panic. Twenty-Two people died because of this attack, and one hundred and nineteen people were injured. There were many young children at this concert, and many victims of the attack include children as young as eight years old. ISIS has taken responsibility for this attack in Manchester. Manchester is in the midst of recovering from this incident and trying to figure out what the next step is in keeping everyone safe.
This action taken by ISIS has affected many people across the world, including Ariana Grande. After her concert was attacked, she went to the hospitals and visited the injured people in the attack. Ariana also visited families of the fans who died in the attack. She felt very bad about the attack and said this on her twitter: “Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I have no words.” She has been very active in helping Manchester recover and planned a benefit concert back in Manchester.
The benefit concert was on June 3rdin Manchester, and it turned into a great success. The concert aired on free-form, and fans were able to watch it on Ariana Grande’s Facebook and YouTube. Many people all over the world were able to watch and support the concert because of these options. People also had the opportunity to donate money to the cause in order to help Manchester. The money went to the “We love Manchester Emergency Fund” which is partnered with British Red Cross and the Manchester City Council. 13 million dollars were raised as people were able to call in and donate throughout the entire concert. This money was donated to help all the victims and people affected by the attack. The concert was very crowded and had about 50,000 people in the crowd. Many famous bands and singers came out and performed at the concert including, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Pharrell Williams, Liam Gallagher, Chris Martin, and many more. Ariana gave the option of 14,000 free tickets for the people who had attended her concert that was attacked.
The event was a great success, and it touched many people. It was emotional for many artist as well as people at the concert and people around the world watching. This concert showed that we are not afraid and will keep fighting back, together, against hate.
