Lafayette Spotlight: Mark Ekstrom

Mr. Ekstrom took time out his busy scheduled to answer a few questions for the LHS Community–read on to find out what his favorite cheese is, and much more!

 Meet Mark Ekstrom, lead member of the LHS Math Department.  Did you know he went to Stanford University? Did you know he was also born in Sacramento?

Q— Where are you from originally? 
A— Sacramento.
Q— How long have you been teaching, and how long at LHS?
A— 15 years, 7 at LHS.
Q— Where did you go to college?
 A— Stanford University.
Q— What subjects do you teach?
A— Math.
Q— Why did you become a teacher?
A—To serve my community, plus it involves three of my favorite things: talking with people, solving puzzles and talking with people about solving puzzles.
Q— What are your hobbies?
A— Indoor soccer, piano, guitar, the NYT crossword puzzle.
Q— What is your favorite cheese?
A— Ilchester!
Q— What is your ideal vacation? 
A— A few weeks with Mrs. Ekstrom at my parents’ cabin on the American River in the Sierras.
