Lafayette Spotlight: David Devaney
Meet Mr. Devaney, tennis coach and small group helper throughout the LHS community! To further learn more about him, here some questions that were asked:
Q: What do you do/teach here?
A: Well, I mainly do small group testing along with being a special education paraeducator.
Q: Why did you come to LHS? How many years?
A: We wanted to move towards a warmer climate for family reasons and we have been here since September of 2018 so about 5 years ago.
Q: What college did you attend?
A: Mt. St. Mary’s in Maryland where I majored in Business/finance.
Q: Why did you decide to teach?
A: I simply just found a passion in speaking to the youth!
Q: What do you love about your job?
A: Mainly the hours and the personalities I see through the school. Every day is a new challenge and I get to walk around, with more flexibility too.
Q: If you could meet someone from the past, who would it be and why?
A: As a history buff, it would have to be Dwight D. Eisenhower. I would like to talk to him about how he came up with the plan for D-Day, an important day in WW 2.
Q: When you were in high school, what was the dream job?
A: That would have to be a sports broadcaster, and I sort of did achieve that through a part time job announcing some semi pro teams back in the day.
Q: If you could choose 1 superpower, what would it be and why?
A: Teleportation for sure, it just wouldn’t take long to get places.
