INTERVIEW

Q– What does your day as a resource officer at Lafayette look like?

A– It is different every day, a lot of paperwork, usually typing reports, social media thing, it is really all admin related. There is a 2 minute action but 2 hours of paperwork behind it.

Q– Where did you go to college?

A– Randolph-Macon College.

Q– How long have you been a police officer, and how long have you been a resource officer at LHS?

A– 12 years police officer, 9 years at LHS.

Q– Why did you become a police officer?

A– It wasn’t the plan, I have a degree in music and was going to be an elementary school music teacher, but I like the commodity and the feel being similar to the military.

Q– What do you love about your job?

A– Mentoring, educating, and coaching.

Q– What are your hobbies?

A– Working out, hanging out with family and friends, traveling, music especially the piano, entrepreneur (I make suits), eating, being adventurous, and football.

Q– If you were stranded on a remote desert island, which three LHS teachers/staff would it be?

A– Mr. Beard because he knows nature, Mr. Wilhide because he is strong, and Mr. Brown because he would give good laughs.

Q– Do you have any advice for young people today?

A– Don’t burn any bridges, the friends/acquaintances you have now, keep them because you might need them in 20 years. You might need a job and connections are important.
