New Light Shed on Feminism
The Feminism Movement from a different standpoint.
What is feminism? Many believe it’s a movement exclusive to women where the female gender should be superior in power. Others think feminist are sexist towards the male gender. Both of these thoughts are common misconceptions and downplay the movement of feminism. From the perspective of an open-minded man such as myself, feminism is a noble cause that strives to create equality for all thirty-six genders.
Merriam-Webster dictionary defines feminism: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. Feminism is a movement that challenges gender stereotypes to accept everyone as an equal. This concept, at times, may be misconstrued and some mistake it as an assertion that women are greater than men. However, feminism is a concept that should be widely accepted because it simply is about equality. Every gender should be seen as equal among all members of the human race. Personally, I
support feminism and what it represents. It is unfortunate that people go through their day with terrible misconceptions.
In today’s world, I don’t really see the need for feminism. Nowadays, gender roles are changing. Through this movement, women specifically have been brought up to equality. Now there’s equal opportunity in a variety of aspects. Women rose up through times of great disparity to attain some of the following things: equal pay, equal job
opportunities, and a higher involvement in politics. If the feminist movement were toned down but still continued, it would yield nothing but positive results for every gender.
