The Flash: Trailer Overview and Expectations
Can the fastest man alive outrun our expectations?
The Flash trailer finally released on Sunday the 12th after years of waiting and months of tease. The trailer comes with lots of expected but also some unexpected surprises. I’ll be looking over the trailer and setting my expectations for the movie. If I’m completely honest, I may not be the best person to talk about upcoming DCEU movies as frankly I think majority of DCEU movies in the recent years have just sucked. My favorite DC movie, The Batman, isn’t even part of the connected universe. However, I am excited for the future of DCEU under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran who were appointed to oversee the universe’s future creations in October of 2022. Now as a big fan of both of them who have created fantastic works, my favorites being James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Peter Safran’s Conjuring universe, I’m extremely hopeful for what these two incredible visionaries might create. However, someone who’s partially tarnished this films expectations have been flash himself, Ezra Miller. Over the past year so Miller has gotten into heaps of legal trouble and I doubt will be returning for any future installments of anything really. With accusations such as sexual assault to a minor, kidnapping, breaking and entering, theft, and second degree assault, it’s not looking too good for the actor. I’ll overlook this for now and just look at the trailer on its own. Now let’s get right into the overview.
The trailer tells us a little about the time travel that we’ll be seeing throughout this movie. It starts by asking why he wants to travel within the timeline and fight for it and he gives back a very simple answer “Because this one is the one where my mom lives.” Now we have the motivation for him doing what he’ll be doing. By doing this (time traveling) it attracts the attention of other familiar characters such as Ben Affleck’s Batman. However, it’s not just the Batman that’s after him in the new timeline but other some other more sinister characters.
After his defeat in Man of Steel, General Zod comes back and reigns supreme within this universe, and he’s here to stop the flash for good. Now the new characters aren’t done yet, 2 still remain, one being Michael Keaton’s batman which has been confirmed at some point last year but this is the first time the fans are seeing him in action, and that action is seriously awesome. Last but very not least, the highly anticipated Supergirl played by Sasha Colle soars into action, she makes her big screen debut and with lots of bombastic and over the top action its sure to be a good watch.
Overall I’m very excited, however, recently with superhero movies like the MCU movies they feel almost cookie cutter and feel like a plain old cash grab. I’m hopeful the Flash changes this dynamic and it’s story is refreshing and entertaining. I believe that the flash can provide that and frankly I just cannot wait. I’ve always loved the flash and have wanted his story to be explored on the big screen so this film really is an extremely exciting thing. Now we’ll just see how well it truly holds up. All in all, I cant wait to see what hopefully amazing story this movie tells.
