In early February, TJ Maxx and Marshalls employees were directed by their company to stop featuring Ivanka Trump’s clothing line. Along with not displaying her clothes, employees were also told to throw away any Ivanka Trump advertisement.

According to the Huffington Post, Doreen Thompson, a spokeswoman for the TJX company, cited “a number of factors” for the decision to stop featuring Ms. Trump’s products. Thompson mentioned in an email to the Huffington Post that, “the communication we sent instructed stores to mix this line of merchandise into our racks, not remove it from the sales floor.” In the email there was no explanation as to why TJX employees were told to throw away all Ivanka Trump advertisement.

Along with the TJX company, several other businesses have made the decision to boycott Ivanka Trump products. Nordstrom’s decision not to carry the first daughter’s products influenced President Donald Trump to tweet about the company and caused several controversial conflicts. Since the TJX and Nordstrom boycotts brought a lot of attention to their respective businesses, several other companies have decided to exclude Ivanka Trump products as well.

The following businesses have joined the Ivanka Trump boycott: Nordstrom, TJX Companies, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Home Shopping Network, Shoes.com, Belk, Wayfair, Bellacor, Jet, and ShopStyle.com

Ivanka Trump has chosen not to be emotionally affected by the recent boycotts against her brand. During George Stephanopoulos’ ABC News interview with the Trump family, Ms. Trump explained, “The beauty of America is that people can do what they like, but I prefer to talk to the millions, tens of millions of American women, who are inspired by the brand and the message that I’ve created.”

As if being the first daughter isn’t hard enough, imagine having a hard-earned and successful business affected by more than market forces: politics and people’s personal feelings about your high profile father, who happens to be not only a reality TV star but also the President of the United States.
