Pumpkin, Chocolate, and muffins. What more could you ask for?!
It’s that time of the year: Meghan Brewer’s chocolate chip pumpkin muffins (a.k.a. “crack bread”) are back in season . A well-known treat around Williamsburg, loved by many, this time of the year friends, teachers, and community members ask around for the muffins of all muffins.
It’s the kind of treat that you can enjoy while bundled up watching a movie, hanging out with friends, and a nice little dessert after a nice meal. This treat is so well known around the town that I interviewed a couple students to see what they had to say.
First up was Jacy Ramos, a Lafayette Senior who has been a big fan of these muffins for years. When it comes to the fall season, she is always eager for the first muffin. Jacy explained what makes her love the muffins as much as she does: “Not only is it a tasty fall treat, but it has everything you could ask for and more.”
The chocolate chip pumpkin muffins originated in fall of 2015. Mrs. Brewer made a regular old pumpkin muffin, and it was delicious. Then she thought to herself, “Hmmm what if I added chocolate?”
And then there was crack bread.
I interviewed the creator of this muffin to see what she had to say about the fame around this fall treat. She had lots to say for it has been her most popular bakery good, but one thing stuck out in particular. “As each year passes, this muffin becomes more and more popular, and as it gets more popular the demand gets heavy.” I asked if she would ever consider selling this treat, thinking she could make great profit. Mrs. Brewer said she makes them for people to enjoy as gifts or as a nice treat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. “I love spreading joy and bringing smile to people’s faces and I am glad this treat does exactly that.”
An amazing fall treat loved by all, even just one of these muffin can fill the heart, the mind, and the stomach. So, if you’re ever in need of a delicious fall treat now you know who your person is: the legend, the creator, Meghan Brewer.
