Mets owner Steve Cohen spent millions this offseason. It appears to be playing off, as the Mets have been one of baseball’s best teams in this young season.
With the dog days of summer approaching, we recap the month of May. Baseball seems to be in a good place right now. Although stars like Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., Mets pitchers Jacob DeGrom and Max Scherzer, and Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. are all dealing with injuries, the star power in baseball is still grabbing the attention of the sports world even during the NBA and NHL playoffs. Teams like the Yankees, Dodgers and Mets have been far and away the best teams in baseball while being the 3 highest spending teams in the league. Teams like the Astros, Brewers, Padres, Cardinals, and Twins have been good as well, with most of them leading their divisions. The hottest team in baseball is the Red Sox who haven’t lost in a week. Trevor Story has seemed to have waken up, as he had a great series against Seattle. We talk about it all on the podcast.
