Learn about one of the world’s most beautiful scenic places, a top tourist destination
Summer Vacation is right around the corner and that means it’s vacation time! There are so many great places to go on vacation and one that tends to be overlooked but is very beautiful is the wonderful country of Thailand. With over 2,000 miles of coastline and over 1400 islands there are plenty of amazingly beautiful places to travel and see if you choose to visit this country. There are also many interesting historical places you could see in Thailand, some of them going back to 545 CE. Another fun thing to do in this country is visit their festivals. They have a few each year that are open to the public and they are the experience of a lifetime, truly revealing Thailand’s unique culture. Thailand stops at nothing to give you an experience of a lifetime and it is truly a very special place to visit.
Without a doubt Ko Phi Phi Don is the favorite Island that tourists go to. Located in the Mueang Krabi District in Southern Thailand there are so many beautiful beaches on this Island. With the Island’s beautiful clear water and its white sandy beaches, it truly is a one stop shop to paradise. One of the wonderful things about this Island is the viewpoint you get when you visit. This large island has an unusual shape, in the form of an H. The main village is built on the horizontal bar and a flat strip of sand between Dalum Bay to the north and Tonsai Bay to the south, truly giving the most extraordinary views.
One fascinating historical place to visit in Thailand is the Grand Palace. This had been the home for all the Kings since 1782. In 1925 the King finally decided to move to a different residence called Dusit palace where the current Kings live in as their private residents, but they still use the Grand Palace for ceremonies and other events they have. The Grand Palace has very unique architecture and with being over 250 years old it truly gives you the feeling of walking back in time. Tours to this extraordinary place are offered daily. They can be a little pricy but when it comes to learning about the world and understanding the people we share it with, the experience of this tour is worth the cost.
To complete the experience of going to Thailand going to a festival is just the way to do it. One popular festival that tourists are encouraged to join is the Songkran New Year’s national holiday. Songkran is on 13 April every year, but the holiday period extends from 14 to 15 April. Songkran is celebrated with street parties including loud music and a giant friendly water fight. People collect water in buckets, squirt guns, and anything else they can find, then hit the streets to playfully splash each other. One reasons they celebrate it in April is because it is one of the hottest months of the year in Thailand so it’s a perfect way to cool off and have some fun. One exciting part that is included in this festival is they have elephants that come and join in on the fun.
Of course, you can’t have a festival without food! A lot of native dishes are made for this festival like Prawn Pad Thai, Khao Chae, and a Thai Margarita. Thailand is a magical place for a vacation.
