J. Cole Album of the Year?
“I never felt so alive” … as we know J. Cole dropped his 4th studio album “4 Your Eyez Only” following “The Sideline Story”, “Born Sinner”, and “2014 Forest Hills Drive”. The 10 track, 44-minute album with Dreamville Records dropped unexpectedly on December 9th, 2016.
J. Cole from Fayetteville, NC plugs deep into his days in North Carolina with this album. In his songs he speaks on social ills, black lives, and doing all the right things in a world of so much wrong. This album being another album with no features like “2014 Forest Hills Drive” he speaks straight from the “soul” in track 4 “Ville Mentality” talking about his deceased best friend. On track 5 & 9 “She’s Mine Pt. 1& 2” he raps about his baby-girl warming our hearts and minds with the new information on the birth of his daughter in the lyrics “I’ve fallen in love for the first time”, speaking on her birth. The highlight of his album track 3 “Déjà vu” he mentions meeting a girl at a party in the lyrics “I’m staring at you from afar, I’m wondering about you Like, where you from and who you are?” like the typical teenager.
Overall this is one of his deepest album, with lots of meaning behind it having 511k sales the first week going #1 being his fourth number one album. It’s not Cole’s best album but is definitely worth the buy.
