The nation and the world is taken by surprise with Donald Trump’s electoral victory
“You’re awake, by the way. You’re not having a terrible, terrible dream. Also you’re not dead, and you haven’t gone to hell. This is your life now. This is our election now. This is us. This is our country. It’s real.” – Rachel Maddow, referring to Donald Trump’s future presidency.
Ms. Maddow summarizes how a large portion of America is feeling today, the day after Trump was announced the president-elect. Many people found themselves in a state of shock as the election took surprising turn in Trump’s favor. Many others celebrate the defeat of Hillary Clinton and are eager for Trump to begin his four years in office. Trump surprised us all with his win and in doing so, he completed the biggest upset in modern political history. This has left millions in a state of shock, anger, and above all, confusion.
Twitter has played a major part in this election from the beginning, and though users reactions were overwhelmingly negative, millions expressed mixed emotions of America’s future president. Here are reactions of users following election day.
