RAMMING Our Way Into Another Victorious Season
There’s no doubt that Lafayette has the best football team in the Bay Rivers District. Thanks to our players, supporters, pep club, and cheerleaders, there is always an air of excitement to every thrilling game.
Lafayette has always had a strong reputation for our football team. We have gone 36 regular football seasons undefeated and have only lost four games since then. Supporters from all over Williamsburg come to watch Lafayette football games, even if they have no connection to Lafayette, simply because they know w e always put up a
good fight.
Even though the players get most of the credit for our team’s wins, they could not do it without the outstanding work of our football coaches. Head coach, Andy Linn, has been a part of the football staff at Lafayette for 20 years and has been the head coach for our team for six years. “We could not ask for a better coach,” said senior Tristen Packer. “Coach Linn is like a second dad to us.” Along with being the head football coach and a Health and Physical Education teacher here at Lafayette, Coach Linn has recently taken on the job of being the new Athletic Director of our school. Needless to say, Linn is dedicated to Lafayette; and although his job can be stressful at times, there is nothing else he would rather do than teach our students and motivate our players to fight till the clock runs out.
No matter who you ask, anyone who follows our football team would say that the primary goal this year is to take our team to states. After questioning some of our players, they were all certain that they will be representing Lafayette at the state championship game this year. Our players put everything they have into every game they play, and the fans see it. Two of our players this year have received offers from colleges to further their football careers, and one of them has already committed.
So far this year, our team is 4-0. The goal is, of course, to go the full regular season undefeated, make it as far as possible in the playoffs, and ultimately, make it to states. With hard work, dedication, and motivation, there is nothing that our football team cannot accomplish.
