Soccer season brings dramatic play-by-play reports from head coach Brian Sorrell

Last night, our Rams weathered some freezing temperatures and rain to get the 1st win of the season.  The Hopewell Blue “Newcomb” Devils did their best to thwart the Rams attack, but our boys came out on top 5-0!

It started with a move from the back to the midfield with Blake Lowery tapping the ball in the back of the net on a loose ball. The second goal of the night came just minutes later from Cannon Newell off of a free kick assist from Peter Stauffer.  The next one which came in a flurry of shots, was by Logan Ponzo with the assist coming from Blake Lowery.

At this point, the Rams led 3-0 at the half and when the second half began, we started right where we left off with a combination passing goal from senior striker Lucas Elder.  Cannon and Lucas moved the ball easily through the Devil’s defense with quick one touches and passing deftness leaving their defense stymied giving  Elder the chance to place a perfect shot in the back of the net.  The scoring onslaught ended with Elder giving a brilliant pass to Dylan Zilla for the final tally of the night.

Our defense and able net minder, Joe Egbo, secured the clean sheet and the Rams look to build on this momentum next week when they travel to the beach again to play Princess Anne.  The JVs also secured their first win of the season with a 5-1 victory.  Thank you again for your continued support and we look forward to seeing at the field.
