Creed 2 came out Thanksgiving Day and is still out in theaters.

Is the first Creed better than its sequel, Creed 2, released November 21, 2018? The buzz at LHS is only positive. Michael B Jordan is one of the stars in this movie, playing Adonis Creed, heavyweight boxer. Sylvester Stallone played Adonis Creed’s coach, Rocky Balboa. In a boxing fight years ago a Russian boxer, Ivan Drago, killed Apollo Creed in a boxing match, stunning the world. In this movie Apollo’s son, Adonis accepts a challenge from Drago’s son, who is also another dangerous fighter.

“In the ring, you got rules. Outside, we got nothing…” –Rocky Balboa, Creed 2

This movie motivates you to get up and do something productive. There are many people who’ve seen “Creed” and “Creed 2”. I asked LHS Senior Spencer Neischel if he liked it “It was one of the best movies I’ve seen” The actors were great because they always stayed in character and were all fantastic at what they did. LHS Senior Spencer also said “The actors in it were doing a pretty great job especially Michael B Jordan” There are many interesting songs that played in the movie that fit the scenery. Once it started to get exciting the music was more intense, which gets your adrenaline rushing. Rocky Balboa gets physically weaker every movie, but his mentality gets stronger, meaning his mindset is to try for a win no matter what- he doesn’t accept losses. The costumes in this movie were excellent. Adonis received a boxing costume from Rocky Balboa; Drago’s son also received an amazing boxer costume from his father. Michael B Jordan is very sneaky in the ring: a way where if he catches you slipping, you’ll get knocked out. His mindset is always positive no matter what. LHS senior Spencer is definitely loving this movie from his comment, “yes I would definitely watch it again”.

Creed 2 could be seen on marquis all over the country.

There were a few cinematic weaknesses. Everything in the movie escalated so quickly; one second Creed was fighting for the world championship, the next he’s fighting Drago’s son, aka “Russian Demon.” Many fast forward skips in the movie led to things happening quickly. Some changes would have improved the scene. For example, Adonis was a heavyweight in the movie, but now-a-days heavyweights are not as popular as they used to be; it is all about the middle class and light heavyweight fights. In addition, Adonis made multiple decisions that were questionable such as: bring his newborn daughter to a boxing gym, and fighting the biggest contender with emotion instead of heart. In addition, Michael B Jordan looks like a skinny ripped dude, which does not make sense because in the movie he’s playing a heavyweight fighting against a bigger person. Adonis is a very fearless fighter, which is a flaw in his character because you can go into some fights blind. Because of the drawbacks, LHS Senior Ed Combs, who has seen “Creed”, isn’t interested in paying movie theater prices to see this movie. However, “I would if it was on TV or Netflix” he said.

People waiting excited and impatiently to watch Creed 2.

Overall, this movie was good. Adonis Creed and Drago’s son were both very excellent fighters, the world’s best pound-to-pound. Michael is the perfect actor for this movie because the kids love him. This movie was motivational, exciting and leaves you feeling like you couldn’t wait to see the next movie. Adonis Creed has a lot more room for growth, maybe one day Adonis Creed will be a boxing legend just like his father, who knows? It’s hard to imagine the future of the Creed series could hinge on Michael B Jordan to go solo.
